Light-cure from the skies
.

Stellar based healing provided at ancient observatories which also were shrines presupposed a knowledge on the different light spectra of certain important stars.

From time immemorial healing temples and holy places has been carried out - but very often also just in connection with the stars and celestial bodies, where people could verify which influences could be given the patients through specific forms of "light-cures" from the firmament.

Summer solstice at the ancient famous astronomical-based place of worship,
Stonehenge, - at 21st June 2005.

Star knowledge was performed by priests and observatories were assigned to temples or were directly in itself holy places.

This was just one particular part of many forms of healing practiced by ancient famous temples. It appears also in this excerpt from my book "The Suppressed Record", chap. 10:
"... In Antiquity it was a widespread tradition in special situations to sleep in the temple (especially known from the temples of later god of medicine Asclepius) - in the incubatory - often at the foot of a particular pillar, perceived assigned a special force by which the sleeping person at this place in a dream would receive information on his healing agent or something of importance for its future. - Donations given by grateful people piled up at the pillar’s base. Whole amounts of temple treasures could be founded in this way.
The healing or magic at the pillar - representing the World-axis in the sky, i.e. Milky Way - is recognized in the Bible’s text about Moses who during the desert journey proclaimed that those Israelites being ill could be cured when they lay down and confronted a sacred pole (‘pillar’) which he had erected in the desert.
The Bible describes that a cobber snake was placed on this stake - Moses’ stake with the snake is the oldest known version of the ever-used medical symbol especially since Greco-Roman times called the ‘Aeskulap (Asclepius)-pole’. ..."

It is interesting that the motif is also known as the name of one of the big constellations in the sky. The ancient Greeks who had received much of their knowledge from Egypt called these stars for Ophiochus which right up until the Renaissance was always understood having a connection with Asclepius.

Stonehenge as light-healing station

One of the fascinating aspects of England’s ancient monument Stonehenge is that it shows to having been built around 2700 BC, thus in an age even before the pyramids. Stonehenge may have been perceived as a destination for ailing Neolithic and Bronze Age pilgrims,, according to a comprising investigation in November 2006 of this megalithic monument.

The ring of the enormous standing stones has long puzzled scholars. Theories on its origins range from the possibility that it served as a mortuary to it being designed for human sacrifice - and also astronomy. To put it precisely, Stonehenge fulfilled several purposes!

Even cultic initiation.
According to Timothy Darvill, professor of archaeology at Bournemouth University in southern England:
"… Stonehenge was a sanctuary that served as an oracle and a place of pilgrimage for the sick. …"

This professor, who has detailed his findings in the book "Stonehenge: The Biography of a Landscape," suggests that the key to understanding Stonehenge lies in the Preseli Mountains in western Wales. There he and colleague Geoffrey Wainwright located the quarry where the bluestones forming Stonehenge's inner circle were cut around 2,500 B.C.

Weighing about 4 tons and standing between 6 and 9 feet tall, the blue-grey stones had to be transported 240 miles to the Stonehenge site in Wiltshire, England. According to Darvill, they were carried so far because they were regarded as holy:
"… It was believed that the bluestones had many healing properties because in Preseli there are many sacred springs that are considered to have health-giving qualities, …" (quotes of Darvill and his colleague Raimund Karl, in Discovery News, 30th Nov.2006).

The belief that the stones held special power survived into the late 18th century, when many people went to Stonehenge to break off bits of rock as talismans. Other evidence for his argument is found in the burial sites at Stonehenge - as Darvill said:
"… Amongst these burials, there seem to be a good proportion of people who show signs of being unwell - they would have walked with a limp or had broken bones and so on, just the sort of thing that in modern times pressures people to seek the Almighty’s help …"

The deities worshipped at Stonehenge would have been the prehistoric equivalent of the Greek and Roman gods of healing, Apollo, and his twin sister Artemis, as Darvill said:
"… Although (Apollo's) main sanctuary was at Delphi in Greece, it is widely believed that he left in the winter months to reside in the land of the Hyborians, usually taken to be Britain …"
Raimund Karl, senior lecturer in archaeology and heritage at University of Wales, Bangor, thinks Darvill's view of Stonehenge as a major international prehistoric healing center is:
"… an interesting idea, which cannot be ruled out as a possibility. - However, I'm not convinced that healing properties were already ascribed to the stones at any time in prehistory and that there was a predominance of sick people buried there," - "Generally speaking, the health of people in prehistory was not particularly good. …"
The light in the world - healing and development causing

In the books and articles I have written about the historical Moses and ancient Egypt my exploration of the ancient sources and materials leading time after another to that temples and holy places always as a matter of course were related to the stars and the cosmos.

In Egypt, when using the shafts leading from outside into the great pyramids some mirrors were placed and connected for channeling light from certain stars. Stellar light is composed of different wavelength depending on the stars’ chemical processes.

And the creation of the world were considered also to be of both geometric and alchemical art: the alchemists considered the biblical Genesis, the classical narrative about the creation of the world - according to tradition described by Moses - as a giant alchemical process, "God's opus".
The cyclic repetition of other factors of this process reminds us time and again of the light’s role. The great alchemists throughout history have described the essence of this.

The world's creation was seen as a giant alchemical process. Accordingly the role of the light is also emphasized in
the alchemical documents. - Left: Engraving from alchemist etc. Robert Fludd's work, ""Philosophia sacra",
Frankfurt, 1626. - Right: Engraving from a work by alchemist etc. Athanasius Kircher, in the 1600’s.

Concerning use of the pyramids, a patient or a candidate for cultic initiation was believed to have got the effects enhanced by letting his receiving of the light to be placed inside the pyramid’s colossal stone massifs which have its own, measurable intense radiation.

The light could also be included in the processes of the forms of cultic initiation which was performed in the Great Pyramids. For thousands of years mystical initiation ceremonies were performed here. They can be particularly studied on the basis of the ancient

Egyptians' own descriptions of the solemn initiation rituals which were thus transmitted to posterity in the so-called "pyramid texts": the inscription in the Unas-pyramid.

These texts inform us in symbolic but nevertheless clear details of initiation rituals. Although they consisted of a number of rites, whose significance we do not fully understand today, the pyramid texts say directly that it was not a dead person the ancient Egyptians put into the sarcophagus inside such a pyramid, but a living one.

In Egypt's neighbouring countries to the south, Nubia or the ancient Ethiopia, the Nubian kings were buried in small pyramids. Consequently, it was often later times believed that even the great pyramids in Egypt were the royal tombs, as the Egyptians sometimes called pyramids for "graves".
The reason is the fact that during the initiation candidate left his body like by "death". But the Egyptians also called pyramids to a "womb" for the neophyte was also "reborn" by being initiated. In hieroglyphic texts the pharaohs themselves recount about unique spiritual events during controlled out-of-body experiences and about the return to the physical body after three days in the sarcophagus.

Less understandable is it that Egyptologists insist to call the Great Pyramids as royal tombs and ignore these pyramids complete lack of all funeral equipment such as inscriptions and pictures and sculptures, etc., which totally unbreakably belonged to normal funeral of the pharaohs as we can see by their burial installations elsewhere.

Pyramids are completely bare inside, while the rooms are built with numeral relation precision of fractions of a millimeter. Such mathematical precision would in a ‘soundscape’ mean everything when it comes to achieving the purest sound without the slightest sound distortion. Exactly the same applies to light. During a healing the starlight could become further refined through the crystals!
The use of cosmic light could be included - but also the absence of light - the candidate also had to undergo a phase of darkness - as in the universe and its rebirths in cycles for new beginnings.

Especially the precisely oriented main shafts let rays of light from certain stars pass directly into
the great pyramid, the Cheops pyramid at Giza. It was the strongest effect. But when because of the
Earth's rotation the stars after a few minutes have passed on in the sky, their light could still be
received by being redirected with mirrors reflecting it into the shafts. For specific purposes the
different stars’ different light abilities might even be combined and gathered into a single beam.

And some evidence of the pyramids in combination with the use of stellar light, we have got in the great pyramid by a discovery of an astronomical sight instrument, already in 1872.

The many thousand year old sight instrument, merkhet, here a bronze hook from the Great Pyramid’s south shaft, and a granite ball and a piece of a cedar wood-like rod from the north shaft - all found by British engineer Waynman Dixon and published in "Nature", December 26, 1872. Scottish astronomer Piazzi Smyth received them when measuring the pyramids with great precision. The items disappeared, became "unreal", but only recovered in the British Museum in 1993, and the rod in the Marischal Museum, Aberdeen, in 2001.

En specielt formet bronzekrog, egypternes traditionelle astronomiske sigteinstrument, merkhet, blev i 1879 fundet i en skakt i den store pyramide sammen med en granitkugle og en cedertræsstav, muligvis også til måling.

Milky Way as a luminous sky pillar - the world-axis line

The luminous sky pillar - in the ancient cultures perceived the world axis as the essence of the Milky Way route of the "magic and healing light" across the sky. This axis should not be confused with the Earth's axis. The world's axis is the run line that runs between the sky’s three brightest stars of all: Canopus and Sirius in the south and Lyra in the north, creating the central line’s course longitudinally through the Milky Way.

In Antiquity’s religious cults time and again a particular concept emerges about the context of religion and knowledge of he stars - namely the World-axis. In fact, no historians hitherto seriously discovered or studied the ideas of World-axis and the importance of this context in history. From cultures contemporary with the ancient Egyptian likewise many traditions were known referring to a particular pillar in the cosmos, the World-axis.

This axis’ route up through the celestial spheres was known by various peoples in the ancient civilizations around the earth - and was everywhere a significant element of ancient religious conception of the universe because the World-axis or World Pillar formed a particularly important part in religious perception of the cosmos.

The axis was sometimes symbolized physically in the temples. They are mentioned as a symbolic picture - "tent pole in the tent canopy" or "mooring post for celestial boats." There was a perception that there was healing or magical powers in the World Pillar, and its concept was cultivated in connection with the stellar knowledge.

Mystery cults had knowledge on celestial geometry based on cosmological teachings, this was a specific knowledge which was further linked to the ancient art of alchemy.

Beams of light are brightening up the brilliant gold-plated covering on the pyramidion top of the Ramses II obelisk. It weighs 230 tons and stands 22.83 metres high in the centre of the Place de la Concorde, Paris, since 1833 - a gift (1829) from the Viceroy of Egypt, Mehemet Ali.
The obelisk had lost its top already in 6th century BC. Based on the original concept in ancient Egypt the French Government, in 1998, provided it with a gilted capstone - now being the only antique obelisk in the world with a gold covered pyramidion.

Prehistoric cultures’ astronomical division of the sky, and the geometric patterns formed by stellar visual connection lines, and planetary orbits - were once, among the great scholars, priests and initiated people, perceived as special elements being the keys for an exclusive, religious insight.

The light was essential in relationship to the universe. As in the mythological inspiration of ancient Egypt the tall, slim obelisks expressed: in "the beginning" when the first top of physical mass raised up and receiving the first beam of light; and the Benu bird - representing life of eternity - manifested itself to sit on the top. The light and the life’s endurance is thus connecting in the arch-cosmic origin.

From the Earth we can see our own galaxy almost like the slim area of a diametrical cut through a dish, the very cut as the nesau - the Egyptian expression for the 'Milky Way' - with its light surrounding the cosmic World-axis. This axis is the equator of the Milky Way crossing over the sky from the south to the north.

A Maya inscription from ca. 100 AD says "the termination of the world era" occurs at winter solstice on December 21 in the year 2012. The transcription of the 2000 year old text seems a bit dramatized as several translators have interpreted it as "the end of the world".
The old Mayas made astrological omens based on symmetries in time, subjects, and cyclic incidents, in fact, December 21, 2012, is by the Mayas not the end of the world - Doomsday is mainly a concept by the European Church - but termination of a huge cycle having started on August 13, 3114 BC. Immediately on the next day a new cycle will start.

Also the fact that the Sun crossing the Galactic Equator on this December 21, 2012, made modern prophets of doom creating fear. The Galactic Equator expressing the essence of the life-giving light. When the two lights meet the cross connecting may be a fine intensifying.

The vital spirit of the world concept

The light of the universe has a special quality for the life and this light is being "amplified" when passing through a galaxy. This is what happens - also when the light is passing diametrical via our galaxy's outside through its curved rim and, as seen from the Earth, beaming out from the long narrow surface which appears as "the cut", i.e. the bright ribbon-like Milky Way, which in mythology was perceived as the informative and "nourishing" World-tree of Life.

Likewise, in ancient cultures people could in their own way perceive the Milky Way as the true, enlightening life-supporter in the sky. From the cosmos it is transmitting - according to near future science - the radiation's special bio-energetic light forms.
Such light, the cosmic all-penetrating radiation light, is also included in superstring-like connections and coherence of the universe.

This light, self-organizing intelligently structured exuding its qualities through our galaxy, was seen as a tool for creating - filling the universe by being the formative as well as informative medium.

The universal light itself exists as a super-information that never goes away or dissolves (but may vary in levels of appearances). The consistency of such facts was at an early stage mentioned by future researcher Ulla Runchel - who also has given a lot of inspiration for my present text - and is now entering into the coherence of modern astronomy and quantum physics/mechanics.

For instance, the ability of transporting data, pictures, and music through light in optic fibre cables - is today a well-known principle. However, far beyond such limited, 'earthly' function the power of the cosmos light is everywhere.

There is no such thing as "emptiness", because even the dark energy of the universe - more than 84 percent of the total mass-energy budget in the universe - is also cosmic radiation of various kind of frequencies, although not directly visible to the human eye but what we may perceive as light of special qualities of which some can be measured by today's science. Dark matter constitutes about 22 percent of the 'budget', and normal matter - stars, planets and every such thing you can see - makes up the remaining 4 percent or so.

Galaxy (here: Andromeda, M31) of our Milky Way type - is also a magical lens for light, viewed from the side.

In the Beginning the Light Appearing - with Information!

About "in the beginning" the ancient Egyptian cosmology account mentions "... the first beams of light that lit up the world ..." - and the Bible's Book of Genisis, 1:3, states conjuringly: "... and then there was light ...".

The two American research engineers and Nobel Prize winners, Arno A. Penzias and Robert W. Wilson, found in 1965 the first physical proofs ("the sound of Big Bang") to the hypothesis earlier presented by Pyotr Kapitsa and especially by George Gamow. Penzias and Wilson showed that "light is the origin of the universe" ... "suddenly the universe arranged itself in order and became transparent".

Gamow had published a Big Bang theory work: the important cosmogony paper, "The Origin of Chemical Elements" (Physical Review, April 1st, 1948) - it became known as the Alpher-Bethe-Gamow theory; and then by observing/listening to the vast universe Penzias and Wilson had discovered background radiation of cosmological origin - imagine: 300 000 years after the universe was created darkness reigned. Then, suddenly, the very first rays of light burst through the shadows - to penetrate the universal darkness freely.

The cosmos has, like a "fossil", thus being preserving traces of the universe in its infancy, and have here retained a trace of this original moment in the form of background radiation. As such, it constitutes a unique memory, providing elements of a response to questions of the birth of the universe, its expansion and its future.
It bears witness to the very first rays of light - today we know that the light is emitted by matter taking place in the form of electromagnetic waves or particles known as photons, i.e. the famous wave/corpuscle duality of quantum mechanics.

The 'World-tree' - the Milky Way panorama photographed all 360 degrees around us.

The light's inherent functioning methods possess some of the same qualities as language which - by itself - contains information, for instance of distinction, time (present, future etc.), location (sequence), and many other data (cf. language by itself as the eternal, great teacher).

More so, the light also - in itself - contains data (besides some technical and astronomical information) among which some are needed for the life forms and their development, expansion, and maintaining (e.g. curing). Light is as of a dynamic storage of "intelligence".

These abilities are - according to the ancient sages - to be found in the very logos. In ancient civilizations through ages this special light was visualized as the World-Tree of Life and the World-Tree of Knowledge united, where the branches and twigs of the one tree constitutes the root and root-twigs of the other, all in one celestial picture, the Milky Way.

For instance, it is known that the Egyptians considered the life-giving and supporting River Nile and its course from south to north as a reflection of the Milky Way’s course in the sky.

All around the world there are many ancient creation myths which explain the origin of the Milky Way and give it its name. The English phrase is a translation from Greek galaxias, which is derived from the word for 'milk' (gala).

In India it is called the Akashganga - a celestial form of the holy river, Ganga. In the Greek myth, the Milky Way was caused by milk spilt by celestial goddess Hera when suckling the new-born Heracles.

In Egypt as well in the ancient Scandinavian myths, the sky was the celestial cow with the life-giving milk as the floating giant stream of stars and the condensed light of these as being life-supporting, - cf. the Milky Way as the Tree of Life in combination with the Tree of Knowledge.

  .

The beams of light which contain something. Pharaoh Akhenaton rebelled in 1300's BC against the ancient
Egyptian religious system. He abolished not the many gods, but he focused on cultivating a particular god
among them, namely the sun god's luminous part, Aton. The king has often been to depicted when he receives
light rays which show that they contain something, as they are designed with loving hands of giving.

Again, the Milky Way was seen as the true, enlightening life-supporter in the sky - radiating bio-energetic forms of light - as also being quoted from the above mentioned Penzias and Wilson's scientific research:
"... light is the origin of the universe. ..."

In the Christian tradition's early writings including Gnostic texts refer to the Virgin Mary conceived by the Holy Spirit and that it was going through her ear, where she received the logos, i.e. "the word". The Gospel by St. John starts with the creation of life in the physical world through the logos, the word. Many Renaissance artists - from Dante to da Vinci, etc. – belonged, not uncommonly, to initiation cults.

Here they received esoteric knowledge of light, spirit and life. Maria's announcement, which was conception, was a popular motif for painters such as Sandro Botticelli, Carlo Crivelli, Fra Angelo and others. On their pictures with this motif they show a beam that contains the logos, the word.

Along with Western religions absence of a genuine cosmological view and the ancient religions’ concept of a cyclic world view, it can be observed that many people in the huge urban culture loses visual contact with the sky and a direct light from the universe of stars, which previously was always associated with life and death in the ancient cultures’ understanding of the world.

On "understanding" the light: Carl Jung emphasized the cosmos containing the divine light of life. As the ancient philosophy of the Veda texts in India and the Buddhist learning - he also states, in his book "Mysterium Coniunctionis, an Inquiry Into the Separation and Synthesis of Psychic Opposites in Alchemy" (1956) , that the collective unconscious was not just comprising the psychology of human beings but of the whole universe.

The light that contains high information - recognizable in works of spiritually initiated Renaissance artists. - Left: the announcement for Mary, "Annunciation" by Fra Angelico, ca. 1450. Right: "Annunciation" by Sandro Botticelli, 1490.

The ancient Egyptians and many other cultures before them had a religious, vital knowledge about several features of these matters, although not comprehended by the technical details as in a modern sense, but by an otherwise impressive conception.

Concerning the primal light, the obelisks represent the same features or principles as the World-axis and - although they are not identical - they have these qualities in common.
Among the Egyptians the obelisks belong to ideas in connection with the very Creation, and these monoliths draw the first light to the physical world.

The measurements of the Egyptian big sizes obelisks of which many were produced in the 18th and 19th dynasties show - in principle - some very special ratios by the lengths of the shaft combined with the breadth of the shaft both at its foot and at the slim upper part beneath the pyramidion (‘small pyramid figure’) on the top, and even with the diagonals.

These mathematical proportions should be examined by modern science and compared or related to measurements or numbers in basic biological features and conditions and also to the influence and behaviour of light.

Obviously, when some deeply going conceptions about the Universe’s super-informative light in various forms were both known and expressed among the ancient cultures, we should be inspired to discover important knowledge here. Academic researchers have, just as Ulla Runchel, done it so brilliantly, each in their own way.

Today, the special light in question, when also consisting of high frequency radiation, could on this basis be thoroughly scientific investigated together with its various ways of strong influence on life.
